Following the mission of the Holy Benedict, 35 Benedictine monks currently pray and work in the monastery of Seitenstetten.
Aside from their spiritual responsibilities of pastoral care of 14 rectories, they also contribute to the fields of science, art, education and economy. Founded in 1112 and surrounded by the hilly landscape of the 'Mostviertel,' the so-called 'Vierkanter of God' (Vierkanter: historical method of construction of a monastery) is the spiritual and cultural focus of the region.
